Introduction

The Government of Punjab, Pakistan, through its School Education Department, has issued a notification outlining the guidelines for School-Based Assessment (SBA) for the academic year 2023-2024. This notification provides clarity on the assessment process, its implementation, and the responsibilities of various stakeholders.

(All Terms) is as under:
1st Term
3rd & 4th Week September 2024
Mid Term
2nd & 3rd Week December 2024
Final Term
2nd & 3rd Week March 2025
Official letter in this regard will be shared as soon as received from the authority.
Furthermore, syllabus for the 1st Term is attached herewith.

  • SBA Uploading: The Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) will ensure that the results of the SBA are uploaded onto the School Information System (SIS).
  • Paper Printing Charges: The paper printing charges will be covered by the existing PEC budget, and schools are not allowed to use current NSB funds for this purpose.
  • Database Sharing: The PEC will share database statistics, including schools/teachers who generated papers, student learning outcomes (SLO), and subject-wise outcomes of the assessment.
  • No Field Monitoring: To ensure transparency, the PEC will not form any monitoring team for field monitoring. Instead, an internal cell will address queries related to system glitches, while administrative cases will be referred to the School Education Department (SED).
  • Monitoring Teams: The SED will constitute monitoring teams, and their costs will be incurred from the existing PEC budget as per PEC rules.
  • Annual Plan: The PEC must submit a comprehensive annual plan to the SED for prior approval before initiating any activity related to SBA.
  • Assessment Schedule: The PEC has outlined the schedule for each term of the SBA:
    • First Term: 3rd and 4th weeks of September 2024
    • Mid Term: 2nd and 3rd weeks of December 2024
    • Final Term: 2nd and 3rd weeks of March 2025
  • Oral Assessment: Oral assessments for Grade-1 and Grade-2 students will also be conducted from 2024-25 onwards.
